VoiceYourView – Public spaces and You
Have you ever noticed anything in a public
area or open space that captured your attention because you liked
it or because it concerned you? Do you know how you can currently
report your concerns, ideas, suggestions and opinions regarding
public spaces? Or do you have suggestions how you would like to
report such issues?
Support for the Community
The approach is always to try and give extra support
and resources to the most vulnerable sections of the community
and to try and prevent crimes before they happen. These vulnerable
groups include young children, young people at risk of falling
into crime, the elderly who are often alone and the small number
of people from ethnic communities who may feel isolated.
EVENT PLANNING AND SAFETY
Dacorum Safety Advisory Group
The aim of the Group
The Dacorum Safety Advisory Group is made up of a cross section
of agencies, Dacorum Borough Council, the Police, Fire Service,
Ambulance Service, and Hertfordshire Highways, and chaired by
John Clarke, Head of Public Protection at Dacorum Borough Council.
The aim of the Group is to look at any events happening in the
Dacorum area, and provide advice and guidance to enable those
responsible for organising events to run them safely and successfully.
How it works
Planning events is a lengthy process, larger scale events, i.e.
over 2000 people, can take up to a year to organise, smaller events
6-9 months.
The Safety Advisory Group is the first point of contact for organisers
of events that will be open to the public, and notifying them
of the forthcoming event should be done as soon as the nature
of the event/dates/venue is agreed.
The event organiser is asked to complete the Event Notification
Form at the right of this page, and send the completed form to
the Safety Advisory Group, at the address printed on the form.
The information given on the form will then be circulated to Members
of the Group. The Group can then provide information independantly,
or, if there are a number of specific points for discussion, the
event organiser may be invited to meet with the Group.
Action points agreed at the meetings will be clearly recorded,
and circulated to members of the group and the event organiser.
A de-brief for larger scale events can be organised following
the event if required.
If you are holding an event you are legally
responsible for the safety of anyone attending.
Safety Event Guide
The Safety Event Guide has been produced to provide some of the
information event organisers need to help them plan a safe event.
A copy of the complete Guide is available to download on the right
of this page.
