Here are examples of community projects:
Cleaning off Graffiti, mending fences and
cleaning subways
A young offender who has defaced a building or broken a fence
will be required to fix it if they are able. If the crime is not
so clear cut, then the youth might be asked to do community work
like cleaning the graffiti off murals in a subway.
Helping out at Oxfam
Young people agree to sort clothes and polish brass.
Riding for the Disabled
At a stable in Hemel Hempstead, young offenders help
mentally and physically disabled people more vulnerable than themselves
to ride. This encourages feelings of care and responsibility often
not experienced before.
Gardening for Age Concern
Young people tend the gardens of elderly people too frail to manage
this for themselves.
