Reducing Anti-Social BehaviourReducing and Preventing Anti-Social Behaviour

While only a tiny percentage of residents in Dacorum will ever experience violent crime, all of us see some example of anti-social behaviour every time we go out.

The Borough Council is leading the campaign to curb bad behaviour, working in close association with the police, social services, Primary Care Trust, Housing Associations, Neighbourhood Watch and others.

Driving dangerously, shouting and swearing, general noise nuisance, abandoned cars, allowing dogs to foul the footway and dropping litter are just a few examples of bad behaviour that chips away at the quality of life.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Team can use a wide range of remedies, some non-legal such as a quiet word in the ear or a written Acceptable Behaviour Contract, to legal action such as injunctions, eviction or Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.

Dacorum has a higher rate of anti-social behaviour incidents than Hertfordshire as a whole - 62 per 1,000 people compared with a Hertfordshire total of 57.
