Levels of Risk in Dacorum

Berkhamsted
Working for Safer Communities

Dacorum recorded a rate of violence is well below the average for Hertfordshire of 4.3. It is important to remember that not everyone is exposed to the same level of risk. Most of the victims of violent crime are young men under 25 who, because of their age and life-style are out late at night, are often in pubs and clubs and exposed to the effects of drugs and alcohol. Domestic violence (Helpline 08088 088 088) within the family is also a major contributor to the statistics.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is leading the campaign to cut violent crime. 80% of violent crime is carried out under the influence of drink and drugs and the police are working with owners of pubs and clubs to identify and ban troublemakers and drug dealers.

For information on how this will be achieved, look at our action plan.
