Hertfordshire Police Authority

Hertfordshire Police Authority is made up by 17 members as follows:

Nine county councillors
Three magistrates
Five local people appointed by a selection panel.

The Police Authority, together with the Home Secretary and the Chief Constable, form the tripartite structure that controls how local police services are delivered. Police Authority Members represent the views of the community and ensure that Hertfordshire Constabulary is accountable for providing the most efficient and effective policing services to meet your needs.

Key responsibilities include setting the annual budget, agreeing policing priorities and monitoring performance. A major role of the Police Authority is to consult local people to find out what they expect from their policing service.

We are therefore very keen to hear your views, comments and concerns about your local policing service in Dacorum.

Working in partnership with Hertfordshire Constabulary, Dacorum Borough Council, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, and Hertrfordshire County Council, as part of the Police Reform Act, from April 2003 we have taken on new responsibilities for local crime and disorder reduction.
