Twilight sessions kick off

A fantastic opportunity for children in Dacorum is officially being launched this week (commencing 23 June), which will offer them a chance to take part in a variety of activities for free.

The Onside 11+ Twilight Sessions are being run by Watford Football Club's Community Sports and Education Trust, in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council and the Children's Trust Partnership. The sessions will be run twice a week at the Borough's four Adventure Playgrounds and will see boys and girls learn everything from football and other sports, to various arts and life skills.

The official launch was held at Grovehill Adventure Playground - attended by over 40 young people aged between 11 and 16, as well as representatives from Dacorum Borough Council, Watford FC and the Children's Trust Partnership.

Portfolio Holder for Community Services and Public Protection, Councillor Colette Wyatt-Lowe, said: "Young people themselves told us they wanted to take part in exciting projects like the Twilight Sessions - and Dacorum Borough Council is committed to delivering them. These sessions provide healthy physical activity, enable children to learn valuable social skills - and also just let them have great fun. I'm proud to help kick off the launch."

The sessions have been made possible after the Council secured £110,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to support the project for the next three years. The Community Sports and Education Trust has also secured additional funding for the project through the Football Foundation, as well as Total UK and Barratt Homes.

If you are aged between 11 and 16 and would like to take part in the sessions, there is no need to book - just turn up and register on the night. Times are as follows:
