NEIGHBOURHOODS TEAM ACT ON ROAD SAFETY FOLLOWING REQUESTS
FROM THE PUBLIC
TRING safer neighbourhood team conducted an operation
on Wednesday (30th June), to educate more motorists
in the Tring and Long Marston areas as a result of
feedback from residents.
Members of the public raised the issues of speeding
and road safety at recent public meetings and surgeries
held in the town and surrounding areas.
Police officers and Police Community Support Officers
(PCSOs) from the Tring Safer Neighbourhoods Team gave
out one ticket for driving a car whilst using a mobile
phone, one ticket for driving without wearing a seatbelt
and lots of advice to members of the public regarding
their driving speeds by using a Speed Indication Device
which flashes up the speed people are travelling as
the go past.
The areas targeted were all areas identified by locals
as being problematic with speeding and other motoring
offences and included Astrope Lane and Cheddington
Lane in Long Marston and Tring High Street.
PCSO Lorraine Batson, who organised the operation,
said: “People in Tring and Long Marston set speeding
in these areas as one of their priorities for us to
deal with at public meetings. We have been running
these operations since January and have many more
planned to tackle this problem in these areas.
“We are committed to working with the local community
to help resolve any ongoing issues they may have –
we will listen and we will act on things which are
causing problems in your area. I would urge people
to attend our public meetings and surgeries – details
of which can be found on our website www.herts.police.uk
or by calling 0845 33 00 222.”
