DACORUM SCHOOL CHILDREN GIVEN ROAD SAFETY ADVICE AND FREE HIGH VISIBILITY VESTS

children road safety advicePUPILS from Long Marston JMI School are the latest children to have received road safety advice and free high visibility vests following a visit from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Keystone distribution.

The school is the most recent to benefit from such visits which have also been held at St Mary's in Northchurch, Little Gaddesden School and Potten End School.

Pupils were delighted with the result of the session last Thursday (June 10th).

The event has been put together by Police Community Support Officer Thomas Montgomery and Steve Baxter from Keystone Distribution.

Thomas said: “This is proving to be an extremely successful session and we are having such positive feedback from all of the schools involved. A very high percentage of pupils in Dacorum walk to school and this has been an excellent opportunity for them to learn about road safety and staying safe.”

Steve Baxter, from Keystone Distribution, who have sponsored the high visibility vests, said: “Obviously as a haulage company we are very aware of the dangers of the road, particularly to young people. We decided to get involved in helping to keep the young people of Dacorum safe on their way to school and wanted to put something back into the community as a local company. We are delighted with the response and hope that this initiative will go some way in preventing a casualty on the road.”
