DON'T RESPOND
TO SCAM EMAIL!
HERTFORDSHIRE Constabulary is warning members of the
public they should NEVER divulge personal or bank
details in response to an unsolicited email, letter
or telephone call.
The warning reminder comes after reports of an email
in circulation that purports to come from Her Majesty's
Revenue & Customs claiming that recipients are
due a tax refund.
The email asks that the recipient fills in an attached
form which requests in-depth personal and bank details,
including the security code on the back of bank and
credit card.
Community Safety Sergeant Nat Landau said: “Unfortunately
there are many scams out there that target unsuspecting
members of the public by various means including phone
calls, mail and email. These scams can on the surface
appear very genuine but don't be taken in.
“The very stark message is NEVER divulge this sort
of information to any kind of unsolicited source unless
you are very confident you know who you are talking
to.
“If you receive any kind of communication like this,
delete it immediately from your inbox or throw it
in the bin.”
