Be a tree champion

Dacorum Borough Council in partnership with the Countryside Management Service is encouraging anyone who enjoys their local trees and woodlands to come and find out more about being a Tree Warden. Residents are invited to a presentation about becoming a Tree Warden on Thursday 17 April, 7.30pm at Hemel Hempstead Civic Centre.
The Dacorum Tree Warden Network will be part of The Tree Council's national Tree Warden Scheme. Dacorum Tree Wardens will not only be the eyes and ears of their communities on tree issues but will also have an important part to play in encouraging others to value their local trees, whether in the town centre or villages.
As a Tree Warden you can get involved with a range of activities. These could include recording information about your local special trees, leading guided walks, practical projects such as planting and caring for trees in your community and encouraging others to value trees and woods.
You need not be a tree expert – enthusiasm is the only requirement. A series of training courses will be run, free of charge, to increase your knowledge of tree related issues, including: an introduction to tree wardening, trees and the law, tree identification and tree pests and diseases. In addition, each Tree Warden will receive a Handbook and regular newsletter from the Tree Council.
Book your place or get further information by calling Vanessa Johnson or Ruth Chapman on 01442 228529 or e-mail vanessa.johnson@dacorum.gov.uk You can also visit www.treecouncil.org
