CASH IN TRANSIT ROBBERY, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD

POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses to a robbery on London Road in the Apsley area of Hemel Hempstead last week (Thursday, June 24).

At around 2.45pm, a security guard was returning to his vehicle in the car park by McDonald's restaurant when he was approached from behind. It is believed the offender(s) have pushed him and made off with a cash box to a waiting vehicle which turned right down London Road towards Kings Langley. The vehicle, a silver Ford Galaxy, was subsequently found abandoned in Chipperfield Road, Apsley.

The security guard suffered a minor graze to his elbow when he fell to the ground.

Detective Inspector Fraser Wylie, investigating, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in and around McDonalds that afternoon who may have seen the Ford Galaxy and its occupants or the incident itself.

“We're also keen to find people who may have the seen the Ford Galaxy in and around the Chipperfield Road area either before or immediately after the incident.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0845 33 00 222 immediately.
