2008/2009 Strategic Assessment
- Dacorum Community Safety Partnership is the preferred
name for the Dacorum Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership
(CDRP).
Dacorum Community Safety Partnership is a wide partnership with
the following statutory members
Dacorum Borough Council
Hertfordshire Police Authority
Dacorum Primary Care Trust
Hertfordshire County Council
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service
Hertfordshire Constabulary
The Partnership has made good progress since the publication of
the 2005-2008 Community Safety Strategy and although it appears
we will not achieve our Government PSA1 target of reducing overall
crime by 15.7%. As at the end of December 2007 we had achieved
a reduction in crime of 14%. We have recently moved to monthly
Joint Action Group meetings with the emphasis on Partners addressing
the current crime trends in the Borough.
Dacorum continues to deliver good partnership working, with the
close proximity of the Police and Fire stations to the Council
offices lending itself in no small way to this. Druglink , a local
charity, also continue to work well in the partnership.
Following the guidance issued by both the Home Office and the
County Council, Dacorum decided to follow the theme headings listed
below, these being :
Reducing Crime
Managing Offenders
Tackling Drugs
Tackling Alcohol Misuse
Anti-Social Behaviour
Improving Feelings of Safety

Dacorum's Community Plan
- Working Together to Make a Difference-Less
crime, litter, and air pollution, with more well paid jobs, health
and social equality for everyone are just some of the things we
want to achieve in our Borough over the next few years.
We know these things are important because we’re asked the
people who live in Dacorum – and now we’re planing
to act on what you’ve told us through this Community Plan.
The 2004/05 Community Plan, which takes us through to 2015, has
not only been developed through consultation with residents but
is also strongly supported by all local agencies through the Local
Strategic Partnership (LSP).
The Plan is based around nine key themes:
- Reducing Crime and Feeling Safe
- Creating a Cleaner Healthier Environment
- Improving Social Care and Health
- Ensuring Easy Access to Local Employment
- Delivering lifelong Learning
- Meeting Housing Need
- Promoting Culture, Arts and Leisure
- Encouraging Community Involvement
- Responding to the Needs of Children & Young People
- in fact all of the crucial elements to a happy lifestyle –
leading to social, economic and environmental well-being and a
feeling of contentment and safety for all the community.
Members of the LSP are committed to working together to make a
difference for the people of Dacorum. They are planning their
work programmes around these key themes to deliver the best possible
integrated services within the Borough.
It is only by working together in this way that we can strive
to achieve a better Borough and way of life for ourselves, our
children and their children.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the trouble to make their
feelings known on these important issues and we will do our best
to deliver the kind of quality service that everyone in Dacorum
wants and deserves.
